Solid’Africa this week hosted Ms. Elodie Shami, Director General of the Imbuto Foundation, in a visit that underscored a decade-long collaboration dedicated to improving nutrition for vulnerable patients in Rwanda.

The partnership began in 2014 when the Imbuto Foundation played a pivotal role in establishing Solid’Africa’s first Mike Stenbock Gemura Kitchen in Rusororo.

The kitchen was designed to provide nutritious meals to patients in public hospitals who cannot afford adequate food during their treatment.

Over the years, the initiative has grown into a network of kitchens and nutrition programs, feeding thousands of patients every day. Solid’Africa leaders hailed the Imbuto Foundation’s early support as a catalyst for the organisation’s nationwide impact.

Ms. Shami commended Solid’Africa’s “unwavering commitment to restoring dignity through nutrition,” noting that the partnership is an example of how civil society can work together to address pressing social needs. She reaffirmed Imbuto’s readiness to continue supporting innovative solutions that improve health and well-being in Rwanda.

The visit concluded with a tour of facilities and discussions on new opportunities to expand the reach of their joint efforts over the next decade.
