Rwanda Defence Force Chief of Defence Staff, Gen MK Mubarakh, has called on young Rwandans to embrace their role in shaping Africa’s future by seeking homegrown solutions to the continent’s pressing challenges.

Addressing the 15th Cohort of Itorero INDANGAMIRWA at the National Ubutore Development Centre in Nkumba, Burera District, Gen Mubarakh delivered a lecture titled “Pursuit of African Solutions to African Problems: The Case of Rwanda’s Interventions on the African Continent.”

The session focused on Rwanda’s contributions to peace, stability, and development through its bilateral military interventions in the Central African Republic and Mozambique. Gen Mubarakh highlighted the positive impact of these missions, noting that they have helped restore order, protect civilians, and create conditions for sustainable development in both countries.

He urged the participants — drawn from various professional backgrounds — to work diligently, sharpen their skills, and take ownership of Africa’s challenges, from poverty and conflict to health crises.

“You are the future leaders of Rwanda and Africa,” Gen Mubarakh told the trainees. “It is your responsibility to be innovative, courageous, and proactive in finding solutions that will transform our continent.”

The Itorero INDANGAMIRWA programme is part of Rwanda’s civic education initiative, designed to instil patriotism, unity, and leadership values among the country’s emerging generation.
