President Cyril Ramaphosa has this evening arrived at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Johannesburg, where he is participating in the Independent Electoral Commission’s Final Results Announcement Ceremony of the 2024 National and Provincial Elections.

Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of South Africa Mr Mosotho Moepya and Chief Electoral Officer Mr Sy Mamabolo are expected to announce the poll results.

South Africans cast their votes on Wednesday, 29 May 2024, in the 7th democratic national and provincial elections since the attainment of the right of all citizens to elect a government of their choice.

Meanwhile, Jacob Zuma’s MK party has claimed – without evidence – that the election was so compromised that it warrants a full rerun.

The ruling African National Congress (ANC) has received only 40.21 percent votes in Wednesday’s election, well short of a majority.

The Democratic Alliance (DA), the main opposition party, received the second-highest number of votes (21.78 percent) followed by the MK party (14.59 percent) and EFF (9.51 percent).
