The Rwandan Development Board, has built itself a reputation for attracting big investments to Rwanda, both foreign and local. But they also have in their mandate the duty of supporting and helping grow Small and Medium size Enterprises, and that is what they have setup to achieve by launching their first SME Support Center.
The SME Support Center will be located in the soon to be new RDB Headquarters, situated across the street from the current RDB Headquarters, it will occupy a large space on the first floor, where it will have a showcasing space for SME’s products.
According to Hughes Kagame, the coordinator for the SME Support Center, the Center will provide SME’s with advisory and capacity building services to help them in their growth; it will also help SME’s avail their products to the wider public to gain visibility, by selling them in its showcasing space for a period of three years.
The SME’s that are sought after by the Center are duly registered domestic companies, that have been in existence for the last two years, and have a turnover of at least 500,00Frw/Year. They have to be producing up to standard and valued added products, and be able to sustain production and supply to the Center showcasing space.
