Over 138 golfers are set to take part in CIMEGOLF 2019 (CIMERWA) annual golf tournament that will be held at Kigali Golf Course on 13th and 14th September under the theme “more than just the game”
The annual golf tourney in its third year running will see winners walk away with CIMERWA branded stunning array of golf equipment including pitch markers, gloves, porch bags, duffle bags, golf bags, golf trolleys, golf clubs PGA like golf trophies and much more.
Speaking at the pre-event press conference at Kigali Golf Club (KGC) Captain Dr David Kashaka Karegeya said the tournament will be comprised of armatures from various countries including Rwanda, Botswana, South Africa, DR Congo and Zimbabwe part of the intention is to boost the tourism sector.
“For all the tournaments we have held this year CIMEGOLF 2019 will undoubtedly be the biggest national tournament of the year since the country will not host the Rwanda Golf Open event as planned to pave way for the expansion of the current golf course.” He adds
CEMERWA CEO, Bheki Mthembu, said that from Rwf 53 million the company pumped into the tourney last year this year it will be around Rwf 60 million and they hope to use the tourney to give back to the community through social reach.
“This time it is more than just golf, it is about the community and we plan on collecting a fee from each of the players to raise funds for the Rwanda caddies association. Giving back to the community is something we have done before. We have built health centres, roads, schools and taught women tailoring in the communities of Bugarama were our plant is located. They also seek to reach the youth at the grassroots”
Kigali Golf Club will on 31st October close for the upgrade.
