Kigali City sponsored side, AS Kigali have progressed through the next round of the 2019/2020 Caf Confederation tournament after routing Tanzania debutants, Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC).
The Rwandan visitors won 2-1 on Friday in Dar es Salaam, Rashid Kalisa scored first goal on the 11 minute of the opening half hour before midfielder Eric Nsabimana netted a second for AS Kigali on the 62nd minute of the second half.
The host KMC got a chance to score consolation in the last three dying minutes of the game, when match referee awarded them a penalty because AS Kigali defender handled the ball in the 18-yard-box.
Yusuf Ndikumana stepped over to the convert the penalty by sending AS Kigali goal keeper Batter Shamiru in the wrong direction. The full 90 minutes of the game ended in favour of Rwandan side.
Owned by Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC), the host forced their guests to a barren draw in the first leg a fortnight ago in Kigali.
The win means AS Kigali progress to the next round and will play either Uganda’s Proline FC or Malawi’s Master Security Service in the next stage.
