The candidates for the upcoming Kwita Izina 2019 edition are 25 baby Mountain gorillas munching away bamboo shoots in the misty Volcanoes National Park in remote northwestern Rwanda.
Belise Kariza the Chief Tourism Officer in Rwanda Development Board said on Tuesday during a press conference that these baby gorillas will be given names on September 6th at the grand ceremony that will take place in Kinigi village, Musanze district.
Much like human babies, baby gorillas are cute, they crawl before learning to walk and they love breast milk. Baby gorillas are nursed by their mothers for about two and a half years.
This ceremony usually takes place yards away from the stone wall fence that protects 160 km² of rain forest that also encompasses five of the eight volcanoes in the Virunga Mountains, namely Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo.
Meanwhile, Ne-Yo a US artist has been booked for a performance.
Kariza also announced that soccer Legend Tony Adams formerly of Arsenal football club will grace this years Kwita Izina.
