Local football governing body Ferwafa has ordered league defending champions Rayon Sports FC to pay over Rwf 32 million in compensation to sacked Belgian coach Ivan Minnaert.
According to Ferwafa committee in charge of settling deputies and conflicts, the compensation includes salary arrears, benefits, and damages plus a $1,000 to be paid to the Minnaert lawyer.
The committee ruled “it was an abusive early termination of (Minnaert) employment contract without serious misconduct adding that “moral harm is done to coach,”
Minnaert was appointed by the club in March 2018 but later got sacked barely two months after signing a one-year and half contract-which would have ended in June 2019.
He guided the club to a historic group stage in the 2018 Total Caf Confederation Cup games; however the club claimed on its official website that the Belgian was dismissed due to a poor run of games on top of failing to manage the dressing room.
