Rwanda Revenue Authority has given car owners less than 30 days to complete ownership transfer and registration of their vehicles.
According to the statement signed by RRA Commissioner General Pascal Ruganintwari Bizimana, RRA also takes the opportunity to remind all vehicle owners, that any vehicle they own that is not registered in their name after the aforementioned time, will no longer be considered theirs.
Failure to respect the directive, according to RRA, will have car owners lose ownership of their vehicles.
Those who bought vehicles but lost contact with the people with whom they transacted with, are reminded to register at their nearest RRA office to be advised on how to proceed.
RRA will begin receiving plate numbers for non operational motor vehicles from August 5 to August 31, 2019.
Also, starting from September 1, RRA will launch a new way of registering motor vehicles whereby sellers will remain with their plate numbers while buyers will be given new plate numbers.
For any clarification, car owners are advised to call RRA’s toll free number 3004.
