A deteriorating body of a yet to be identified person has been found behind car tyres in a small house located behind the ENGEN petrol station in Nyamabuye Sector, Muhanga District.
Some of the people working at the petrol station have said they hadn’t seen the body, while others say that it has been there for days and that they had reported this to local authorities.
The presence of the body was disclosed by one of the people who regularly have their cars washed behind the petrol station but those who wash the cars at the petrol station, say they informed local authorities at the village level who promised to do something but ended up doing nothing.
Laurent Rurangwa the Executive Secretary of Nyamabuye Sector has said that they are going to follow up on the case and find the cause of this person’s death, he said they became aware of this body on Tuesday July 23rd, 2019 and informed the security organs who responded that they didn’t know about the body.
“We have joined security organs this morning and went there. What is next is gathering information from those who work from there, because they were the first to know it,” he said.
Muhanga District Mayor, Béatrice Uwamariya says that it is indeed sad that instead of informing authorities immediately after learning of an unidentified person’s body, some residents decided not to share the information with the authorities.
Meanwhile, Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has initiated investigation to establish the dead person’s identification as well as the exact time the person died.
