Two Arrested For Embezzling Funds Meant For Children With HIV

Two administrators of Kinigi Health Centre in Musanze District who are suspected of embezzling funds meant for HIV positive children by the Global Fund project have been arrested.

The suspects are in-charges of Kinigi Health Center; Clemence Mukasine and Jean Marie Vianney Rukeraho.

The spokesman for the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), Modeste Mbabazi has confirmed that the two are being followed up for having embezzled most of the funds and allocating little to the children funded by the project.

“There is an amount of money that children are supposed to get whenever they go to take medicines there. Those in charge of the children have been keeping the funds and giving them a small amount,” he said.

He added that they were detected by an audit that was conducted and revealed that there were some issues within the health center’s management.

Judicial due process will take course immediately.
