A resident of Zirambi Village, Ruyenzi Cell, Ruheru Sector of Nyaruguru District, on Sunday, nabbed a 17-year old boy with 7kgs of cannabis.
According to Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Bonavanture Karekezi, the Police spokesperson for the Southern region, they are looking for the man, who was using the minor in trafficking drugs.
“We have identified a drug dealer, who was using the boy to traffic cannabis. The boy was actually delivering the narcotics to him in Nyabimata Sector at the time he was intercepted by the resident,” CIP Karekezi said.
He added: “Police and investigators are working together to bring the prime suspect to justice. Dealing in drug related activities in criminal, but involving children is killing the future generation, which everyone should equally stand up against, report anyone they suspect to be a drug dealer, more so those using children in these criminal activities.”
Under article 263 of Rwanda Penal code, anyone who involves a child to produce, transform, transport, store, use or to sell narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances faces a penalty of life imprisonment and a fine of Rwf30 million to Rwf50 million.
