Authorities Have Taken Up Case Of Burundian Woman Who Wrote To President Kagame Seeking Justice

DNA tests have confirmed that indeed, Evode Mushingwamana, the man reported to have abused a Burundian lady is the real father of a baby girl born to Peri Niyibigira.

Taarifa can also confirm that legal actions are being taken to ensure the lady receives justice.

We have also learnt that Justice and Attorney General Johnston Busingye and the Prosecutor General Jean Bosco Mutangana are personally following up the case as well as other relevant authorities, while the victim receives counselling as well as food and shelter in a safe place.

The Spokesperson of the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) Modeste Mbabazi also told Taarifa that the lady and her baby are being taken care of while investigations continue.

He said the lady had earlier filed a different case, threats from Evode, despite RIB now digging deep to find more details.

Prosecutor General Mutangana told Taarifa that he has signed a team to investigate the case and establish the substance of the matter.

The good Samaritan who took care of the lady during the first 8 months tweeted saying that, “She [Niyibigira] is safe and receiving counselling, food and shelter. Be assured justice will be [rendered]. [The} Minister of Justice is following up the case, as are other relevant authorities.”
