As the rainy season continues, some parts of the country have begun receiving vast amounts of down pour leading to extensive floods that place crops fields in danger.
Rice Farmers in Kirehe district are keeping their fingers crossed as they watch helplessly water levels submerging their rice.
However, some parts of the country especially in Nyagatare, Gatsibo districts have mild rains that pound in intermittent pattern. Farm fields are still hard for hoes to crack through and this has led to late planting as some farmers are still tilling their fields.
In some fields, some farmers had planted as early as at the beginning of February but the scotching sun affected these crops especially sorghum which is expected to rise back under current rains.
