17 Armies To Conduct Joint Training In Rwanda

Military representatives from 17 countries gathered in Kigali this week for the initial planning of the Field Training Exercise (FTX) code-named Shared Accord 2019 (SA19) to be hosted by Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) from 14 – 29 August 2019 in Gabiro Combat Training Centre.

Shared Accord is a multilateral exercise intended to enhance US and African forces’ capabilities to perform peacekeeping operations in support of United Nations and African Union mandates, while shaping the security environment in mission areas.

RDF hosted the Command Post Exercise (CPX) Shared Accord 2018 (SA18) last August at the Rwanda Military Academy in Gako.

Around 1000 participants from partner states are expected to attend this year’s FTX.

The countries expected are Canada, USA, Rwanda, Mali, Ghana, Nigeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Gambia, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar, Italy, Zambia, Netherlands and Kenya.
