Chances for Rwanda national football team to participate in the 2019 Africa U23 Cup of Nations have ended after they were eliminated by DRC on a 5-0 score aggregate in two games.
In the return-leg game of their first round tie in the ongoing qualifiers for the 2019 Africa U23 Cup of Nations staged Tuesday at Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa, DR Congo U23 football team defeated Rwanda with a 5-0 heavy defeat.
It was 2-0 in favor of the hosts at halftime and in the second half, the young ‘Leopards’ scored another three goals to make it 5-0 at the final whistle.
The 5-0 defeat saw junior whaps eliminated from the ongoing qualifiers for the 2019 Africa U23 Cup of Nations to be hosted by Egypt in November 2019.
The first leg game held last week at Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu District had ended in a goalless draw.
DR Congo will play Morocco and the eventual winner will get a qualification to participate in the 2019 Africa U23 Cup of Nations.
