National Institute of Statistics Sets Inforgraph Competition

Rwanda’s best brains from institutions of higher learning are going to engage in a very tight competition that seeks to condense large volumes of statistics into an inforgraph.

The Competition is part of a series of events lined up to mark the annual African Statistics Day (ASD) that aims at raising public awareness about the importance of statistics in economic and social development and in preserving the environment.

The National Institute of Statistics (NISR) invites graduate and postgraduate students of educational institutions of higher learning (both public and private) in Rwanda to produce winning static and dynamic infographics by participating in the NISR Infographic Competition 2018.

This year the ASD will be the 17th edition  organized by NISR and the day will be marked with a number of events. Every year, on 18 November, African countries celebrates the African Statistics Day (ASD).

Candidates in the competition will obtain data from five documents containing statistics on demographic dividend – all the five PDF documents are posted on the Statistics website (www.statistics.gov.rw).

According to the statistics body, this data on Demographic Dividend was a result of a study on Rwanda’s socio-economic and human development potential in the short, medium and long-term period using a comprehensive approach.

This assessment generated relevant policy and programme information to guide a well-informed policy required to propel Rwanda towards achieving its aspirations of being high middle income country by 2035 and high income country by 2050.

Candidates in this competition therefore will transform this data into a form of Infographs to project quick understanding and explanation of a particular statistical aspect in the assessment.
