Rwanda targets to increase passengers flying with the national carrier to slightly above a million in the 2018/2019 financial year- the Ministry of infrastructure announced its target on Thursday.
Passengers travelling by RwandAir had reached 926,571 in June 2018 but the Ministry targets to increase passenger numbers to 1,151,300 in the current fiscal year.
According to Ministry officials, RwandAir destinations will also increase from 26 to 31 destinations. The new destinations include; Addis Ababa, Guangzhou, Tel Aviv, Guinea and New York.
On Friday, the ministry of infrastructure signed 2018/2019 Imihigo (performance contract) between Minister of Infrastructure Ambassador Claver Gatete and Ministry’s affiliated agencies.
Recently, RwandAir had announced that it considered doubling its aircraft fleet in the next five years, hence expanding its journeys across Africa and around the world.
So far, RwandAir hasa fleet of 12 aircrafts including one Airbus A330 – 300, one Airbus A330 – 200, four Boeing 737-800NG, two Bombardier Q-400 Next Gen, two Bombardier CRJ-900 Next Gen and two Boeing 737-700NG.
