Police in Muhanga District are holding three people suspected of possessing stolen electronic equipment.
They were taken into custody on August 3, during an operation in Nyamabuye and Shyogwe sectors.
The Police Spokesperson for the Southern region, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Emmanuel Kayigi, said that the operation was conducted after complaints about a group of people either involved in stealing or selling stolen electronics.
“During the operations, Police arrested Felix Uwiringiyimana, Murtas Ngiruwonsanga and Emmanuel Ndiramiye with stolen computers, phones and television sets,” CIP Kayigi said.
CIP Kayigi said the suspects are currently detained at Nyamabuye police station as Rwanda Investigations Bureau (RIB) continues with further investigations.
The trio is said to be part of the ring, with other members also arrested recently.
The spokesperson called for timely information sharing on people suspected to be involved in these criminal acts.
He also urged the general public to always buy goods from recognized and legal shops and stores, to avoid buying stolen items.
“Operations will continue both against black markets dealing in stolen items and also against individuals suspected to be engaged in theft or house break-ins.
