Rwandan Cyclists Get Warm Welcome In Belgium

A team of young Rwanda cyclists that we reported that was destined for specialized training in Belgium have already arrived and were treated to a warm welcome.

Food and drinks were flowing steadily at their reception. Deep fried chicken, meticulously prepared beans just in the Rwandan way, dry fried pork (popularly known as akabenzi back home), rice and specialty soup blended with massive spices were served to the teenage athletes.

The cyclists all donning matching black suits and white shirts, sat at a table outdoor to feast on this tempting meal in company with an unidentified official.

The chef who prepared this meal must have done a thorough investigation about what these boys crave for. At least every cyclist served from every dish on the table heaping a substantial amount of yummy food.

After the meal, some of the excited cyclists took a ride in a convertible car while their colleague filmed a short video but it was an exciting moment.

These cyclists will few hours from today change from suits to cycling gear, and embark on grilling training for one full month to acquire early experience and transition to professional cycling.

Under completely new racing conditions, the Rwandan cyclists will have a chance to race against the top junior teams from all over the world.

Rwanda’s Skol Brewery arranged this trip with the target of nurturing young talented cyclists to ascend to professional levels but with early exposure to international standards in europe.
