A Chinese businessman, who has been operating in Rwanda for the past eight years, has launched a travel agency, HuaLu Hills International Travel Co.,Ltd”, which he believes will bring thousands of Chinese tourists to Rwanda.
On Friday evening, Duan XinJian, popularly known for building elevators and running a massage and sauna parlor, organized a tourism and cultural event called “Seeking the beauty of Rwanda”, in collaboration with “HuaLu Hills International Travel Co.,Ltd”, and “Beijing Central Television Sailing Film and Television Co.,Ltd” to promote Rwanda as a tourism destination for the Chinese market.
The event was held at T2000 Hotel, owned by a fellow Chinese tycoon.
The production company was invited by HuaLu to produce a video and pictures about Rwanda, which will be made into a travel documentary and broadcast on Chinese television.
This footage will also serve as promotional material for HuaLu, which joined the Rwanda Tours and Travel Association this month.
Duan XinJian said that he decided to launch the travel agency after President Paul Kagame’s visit to China in March 2017.
While there, Chinese President, Xi Jinping, who is expected in Rwanda next month, agreed with President Kagame intention to develop tourism and cultural exchange between both countries.
Duan XinJian said that he wanted to make sure that the company is launched before the visit of President Xi Jinping.
Meanwhile, he believes he can bring 1000 Chinese in the first year, and many more in the coming years.
