Uganda has suffered a major defeat after succumbing to penalty shootout with Cameroon at the ongoing Africa U20 Cup of Nations Qualification.
For the entire game of full 90 minutes, Cameroon had also beat Uganda 1-0 but the two teams technically had one point each on aggregates and this meant they go for a penalty shootout.
The lone goal in the full time game was scored by Cameroon’s Tadeus Nkeng at the 67th minute.
Cameroon therefore won 5-4-after kicks from the penalty mark.
Soccer pundits say that Uganda U20 head coach Matia Lule replaced first choice goalkeeper Saidi Keni with Denis Otim at the stroke of the full time whistle. The coach predicted that they were headed for penalties.
Technically Uganda has been eliminated from the AFCON U20 Qualifiers. Cameroon progresses and faces the winner between Tanzania and Mali for a place at the final tournament in Niger.
