RwandAir to Fly To Abuja Four Times Every Week

Rwanda’s national carrier will effectively begin flying to Nigeria’s Capital Abuja four times in a week. RwandAir will be picking up and dropping off passengers along the Abuja – Yaoundé route.

Rwandair said earlier on Friday that, “Abuja is now our second destination in Nigeria, it will be served directly from Kigali 4x a week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Sunday.”

According to Patrick Manzi, the Senior Manager Promotions and Customer Loyalty, Abuja route will help RwandAir on increasing connectivity between East and West Africa and enhance partnership between Rwanda and Nigeria.

In December 2017, the government of Nigeria approved Rwandair flights on that route and this was scheduled to start by January 1st, 2018 along the authorisation to exercise the 5th freedom traffic between Abuja and Yaoundé.

RwandAir considers Abuja as an already vibrant trade hub in West Africa.

Therefore the 5th freedom traffic will enable RwandAir to carry revenue traffic between Nigeria and Cameroon as a part of services previously for only Nigeria’s airlines.

Rwandair now operates two routes in the Nigerian airspace including one connecting to Lagos established in 2012.

So far the national carrier has increased its destinations to 23 globally including 20 in Africa.
