Rwanda’s efforts to increase her exports and eventually bring down the gap with imports are paying off.
The National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) has flagged off the country’s first ever consignment of locally produced Chilli , now in transit thousands of miles away to India.
“The 1st container with 10,670Kg of hybrid chilli produced by farmers under SITA Project is ready to be shipped to India this evening. Its value is U$14,400,” said NAEB.
Rwanda’s predominant agriculture products for export are coffee and Tea.
Other exports include minerals – Rwanda exports more than 30% of total tantalum produced globally and this makes Rwanda the world’s single largest exporter of tantalum mineral.
Elsewhere, NAEB says Rwandan coffee exporters are currently showcasing the country’s high quality coffee at an exhibition event in USA.
“Coffee exporters are exhibiting Rwanda specialty coffee in SCAA2018 Expo (the Speciality Coffee Association of America) Washington Convention Center, Seattle,” NAEB said.
