Donatille Mukabalisa, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Rwanda Parliament on Saturday Joined residents of Nyamagabe district to honour victims of the 1994 Genocide Against Tutsi.
She delivered a condolence massage to the survivors of 1994 Genocide against Tutsi especially to the family members of the Genocide victims who were killed at Murambi former Gikongoro District.
Tens of thousands of residents turned up to collectively pay tribute to the victims. This is inline with the ongoing events for the 24th commemoration of the 1994 genocide against Tutsi which claimed a million lives.
During the genocide, several Tutsi ran for their dear lives escaping merciless Interahamwe militia and the government soldiers.
Days before April 18th 1994, killings about 65,000 Tutsi hid at Murambi Technical School and thought this was very safe for them.
However, Interahamwe militia and the army attacked the technical school on April 18th at around 3AM.
Records indicate that 50000 were killed on site and those that had managed to escape were killed the following day.
