Rwanda’s envoy in Angola HE. Alfred Kalisa has embarked on an aggressive campaign to promote and court more friends for his country beyond borders.
Ambassador Kalisa on Thursday held discussions with the US envoy in Angola Amb. H.E Nina Fite.
Meanwhile, Rwanda enjoys close ties with the United States.
In March 2015, Rwanda opened an embassy in Luanda, Angola after a 2014 agreement between Angolan Minister for External Relations, Georges Rebelo Chikoti and President Paul Kagame.
Angolan Minister Chikoti had visited Rwanda and met with President Kagame.
“We will sign agreements to define our cooperation in many areas that we will define with time. In my discussions with President Kagame, it was clear that he holds paramount our region and the need for its stability. All countries in the region must contribute towards the process of peace building.”
According to Rwanda’s Foreign Affairs Minister Louise Mushikiwabo, the three agreements signed between her country and Angola were the result of agreed higher level of cooperation.
The two countries established a legal and diplomatic framework of the cooperation.
“This is for us a beginning of a new phase of cooperation which requires hard work on both sides to make sure that the People of Rwanda and Angola benefit from the immense potentials that our region has”, she added.
