Kenyans are anxiously waiting for the surprise meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga. The two are holding their first meeting since last year’s contested election, a senior opposition official said on Friday.
“Its happening now, but we’ll come out with the details once its over,” said Senator James Orengo.
Mr Kenyatta is also set to address the nation from Harambee House in Nairobi this morning.
The address comes on the day US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is expected to land in Kenya on his tour of Africa.
Tillerson is expected in the country at about 5pm and will head straight to Villa Rosa Kempinski to address a press conference.
Officials say his trip is mainly centered on ways to counter terrorism, advance peace and security, promote good governance, and spur mutually beneficial trade and investment.
Tillerson’s Africa visit includes Chad, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Nigeria.
