The Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Agency [RURA] has suspended operations of Amazing grace Christian radio for breach of license obligations.
In a two-page worded order dated February 20th, RURA ordered the radio to “Air a statement of correction and apologise to the Public on the message of Mr. Niyibikora Nicholas within 12hours from time of receipt of order,” the statement reads in part.
The radio has also been instructed to, “Suspend all broadcasting services for thirty days,” after apologizing to the affected person of Niyibikora.
RURA also has instructed the errant Amazing Grace radio to, “pay an administrative fine worth Rwf2million to the RURA’s account opened in the central bank (BNR) within a period of 15days from date of receiving the order.”
Meanwhile, at the beginning of February, Rwanda’s media watchdog (RMC) had ordered Amazing Grace radio station to close for three months after a “vile” sermon against women.
