Reports from neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo indicate that the Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) have killed 16 rebels of the Allied Democratic Front in Beni territory of North Kivu Province.
According to the spokesperson for Sokola 1 operations in the Grand Nors section, Lt. Antony Mwalushayi, the 3202nd regiment of FARDC finally dislodged the ADF rebels from Loselose village, after violent battle since the beginning of the week.
Lt. Antony Mwalushayi also reported that two Congolese soldiers died during the fighting while seven others were wounded. He adds that search operations in the area are continuing to secure the population.
The battle has been raging on for the past week as the DRC army and ADF rebels have been fighting for the control of Loselose village where these rebels had set up their camp considered as the granary to supply their fighters in Beni.
The rebels had set up several cocoa plantations, banana plantations as well as other crops.
The capture of Loselose by the Allied Democratic Front rebels had displaced the population of this region to the southern part of Beni, in the neighboring chiefdom of Bashu and in the town of Beni.
