Defending league champions Rayon Sports were beaten by Ettincelles one goal to null in the Azam Rwanda Premier league match day 9 staged at Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu.
Ettincelles FC coached by Emmanuel Ruremesha, former Rayon Sports’ coach got their goal in the 83th minute, scored by Saiba Claude Mumbele.
After both teams could not convert chances they got into goals during all the 82 minutes of the game, hosts Ettincelles attacked Rayon in the 83th minute through Kibonke who ran with the ball in the left wing to pass it to Mumbele.
Mumbele who was in the area shot the ball and Rayon Sports keeper Eric `Bakame’ Ndayishimiye could not do anything than picking it from the nets.
Rayon Sports who had beaten Amagaju 1-0 in Nyamagabe on Sunday, December 17, 2017 have played Ettincelles with only four substitute players on the bench due to injuries in the team.
Rayon’s two key Burundian players, Shassir Nahimana- who scored most goals for them in the 2016/17 league- and their deputy skipper Pierre Kwizera, who was awarded the most valuable player for the last two league seasons did not feature for the blue and white side coached by Olivier Karekezi.
The two players arrived in Rwanda on Tuesday from the CECAFA 2017 campaign in which they scooped the fourth place as they were beaten 1-2 by Uganda who won the third place in the regional competition won by hosts Kenya after beating Zanzibar on Sunday.
After Rayon Rayon Sports were beaten one goal, the will to equalise cost them more as Jabel Manishimwe, who scored the lone winning goal in the game they beat Amagaju on Sunday, was shown a red card in the 10th additional time minute for elbowing Hakim Tuyisenge with whom they fought for the ball in the air.
Ettincelles’ win saw them move to the sixth place on the 2017/18 Azam Rwanda Premier League table standing with 13 points while Rayon Sports, who have one more game to play, remained fifth with 14 points.
AS Kigali lead the table with 17 points followed by SC Kiyovu who they[AS Kigali] outnumber them by six goals.
APR FC are third-placed with 15 points with one more game to play while Police FC are fourth with 15 points.
In the other Azam Rwanda Premier League match day 9 game played on Wednesday December 20, 2017, Mukura Victory Sports defeated Gicumbi FC 2-0 in Huye.
On Tuesday, AS Kiyovu drew Kiyovu 2-2 at Stade de Kigali in Nyamirambo as Police FC travelled to beat Espoir FC 2-1 at Kamarampaka Stadium in Rusizi. Sunrise, playing at home in Nyagatare defeated Kirehe 2-0 while Marines FC beat Bugesera 2-0 at Umuganda Stadium.
APR FC, the Peace Cup defending winners will visit Amagaju FC in Nyamagabe this Thursday, December 21, 2017 for a clash at Nyagisenyi playground.
