Three candidates namely Vincent Degaule Nzamwita, Ms. Felicite Rwemarika and Louis Rurangirwa have submitted their nomination files seeking to run for the presidency of the Rwanda Football Association (FERWAFA) in elections slated for December 30, 2017.
Incumbent President Vincent Nzamwita, who has been FERWAFA President since January 2014, was the first to submit his nomination to the FERWAFA Electoral Commission, according to FERWAFA website.
He submitted it at 12:30, accompanied by Miroplast FC Secretary Eng. Alexis Nshimiyimana, United Stars president Vedaste Ngandahayo and Gicumbi FC Secretary General Antoine Dukuzimana.
Forty minutes to the deadline, that was set for Tuesday November 28, for any Rwandan with the need to preside the Rwandan soccer leading organization, Felicite Rwemarika who acts as a member of the FERWAFA Executive Committee in charge of women football presented her bid; at 16:15pm
Madam Rwemarika who is also the vice president of Rwanda Olympic and Sport Committee was represented by Gasabo United FC President Raoul Gisanura, accompanied by Heroes Fc President Fidele Kanamugire and current member of the FERWAFA Legal Committee Safari Rutagenga.
Only one minute before the FERWAFA Electoral Commission announced the closing of the submission of the submission process, Louis Rurangirwa who once acted as the President of Rwanda Athletics Federation and referee submitted his bid. He came unaccompanied
The FERWAFA Electoral Commission President, Adolphe Kalisa said that nomination papers of the three candidates were received and that they will undergo examination between November 29 to December 1, 2017.
From December 8 to December 11, 2017, the FERWAFA Electoral will receive petitions and hear appeals, if any, before the official declaration of the approved candidates is announced.
Declared candidates will then start official campaigning until December 29, 2017 one day before the elections are held on December 30 in an elective FERWAFA general assembly.
