Tour du Rwanda: Eyob Mektel Wins Stage Four, But Areruya Regains Yellow Jersey

Eritrean Eyob Mektel this Thursday won the stage four of the ongoing Tour du Rwanda 2017 from Musanze-Kigali to Nyamata of a distance of 120Km.

Mektel who rides for Dimension Data For Qhubeka arrived at the finish line with Rwandan Joseph Areruya, a mate at Dimension Data but Areruya let him cross the finish line first.

Eyob and Areruya broke away when riders arrived at Nyirarukobwa hill in Bugesera and left others to reach the arrival line one minute before the pelloton that Swiss Simon Pellaud- who had the yellow jersey- was in.

This made Joseph Areruya- who won stage one of Kigali to Huye on Monday- retain the yellow jersey having used 13′ 07’41’’ so far.

Bosco Nsengimana who won prologue and showed will to win today’s stage had a problem on the way as his bicycle’s tyre was broken shortly before they arrived at the finish line.

Riders started in Musanze at 10h00′ and turned up at the finish line at 13h00′.

The stage four classifications was as follows:

4.Suleiman Kangagi
5.Patrick Byukusenge
6.Main Kent
7. Kipkemboi Salim
8.Mebrahtom Natnael
9. Holler Nikodemus

And the general classification of the top five is:
