The Development Journalism Awards ceremony is currently taking place at the Serena hotel in Kigali, Rwanda.
The 2017 Journalism Awards’ main objective is to recognize efforts of journalists in spurring national development. This year, over 40 awards will be given to outstanding journalists in different categories and best media houses based on pre-determined criteria. In addition, several government institutions will also recognize best journalists whose work has significantly contributed to the achievement of their respective missions.
Criteria for choosing the best include professionalism, ethics, depth in terms of research efforts and the impact on audience, among others.
